I have put together a few interesting Canadian Grocery statistics for the second Quarter of 2012.

They take into account total trends and results for 2012 year to date.

The data has been collected by compiling information from the following sources. (Statistics Canada/Nielsen Data/Retail Council of Canada)

1.CPG food prices have risen for the 6th quarter in a row.

2.Private label share has held steady and has not experienced growth or shrinkage.

3.Canadian consumers are making less grocery trips but they have increased the amount purchased.

4.Global Gross Domestic Product growth rate is led by:

Asia 5.9%

East Europe 5.3%

Latin America 4.8%

Middle East and Africa 3.5%

North America 2%

Western Europe 1.4%

5. Canadian Metrics:

Exports increased by 1.1%

Imports increased by 2.5%

Total retail sales decreased by .4%

Manitoba 5.2%

Ontario 7.7%

Quebec 7.7%

New Brunswick 9.5%

21% of Canadians have no spare cash.

Canadian that have spare cash:
