Your picture is now on your resume

For many years North Americans scoffed at the practice of placing pictures on resumes as it is done in Europe and the rest of the world.

Do not kid yourself.

This practice is now followed in North America but it is just not as obvious.

A scan for pictures of candidates on LinkedIn, Facebook and image searches through Google are now conducted by most companies and recruiters before any potential candidates are even called regarding job opportunities.

Everyone is becoming familiar with the importance to tightly manage personal information and personal pictures through social media sites and the importance of this practice will continue moving forward.

Do yourself a favour and make sure that you have a professional photo on LinkedIn.

Corporate fit still plays a major role in the hiring process and photos can help or hinder your first impression.

This picture with profile is more often than not then attached to the top of your resume and it represents your virtual file for recruitment firms and hiring companies everywhere.

I am still surprised how many people do not have pictures on their LinkedIn profiles.

If you are serious about your career, uploading your picture is essential.

It will greatly increase the chances that you will be approached regarding your dream opportunity.

Pictures are no longer obsolete when it comes to marketing yourself or helping relate your corporate relevance in the North American market so it is time to accept this fact and stop scoffing at the idea of pictures on a resume.

Farewell,

Mike
