Executives without post secondary?
I sometimes get executives who are lacking post secondary education and it will sometimes come back to haunt them when they are downsized out of their position. It is often tricky to maintain that executive status after someone leaves the place where their sweat equity was appreciated. Their lack of education might now hold them back for their next position when they compete with other good candidates that do have the desired education.
This promoted me to look at what types of jobs paid the most without requiring post secondary education.
If you don’t have a degree you may want to look at the following.
The website Adzuna has conducted third party research in this area. I have highlighted some of their findings which I find interesting.
-Real estate agents make an average of $102,000 a year while someone in mining and construction earns $99,720.
-An electrician averages a salary of $64,601
-A waste manager makes $76,122.
-Students are graduating with a bulk of student debt which the Canadian Federation of Students estimates to be an average of $28,000 in some parts of the country.
-Information technology and engineering sectors have the highest demand for university degrees with 2,151 and 2,044 available positions available a year on average where social work, property and hospitality sectors have the fewest graduate vacancies.
-For jobs that don’t require a degree, the average salary is $49,574 while the average salary for university graduates is $64,904.
-The average salary awaiting someone with a law degree is $123,333.
-The average salary for an electrical engineer is $95,000.
-PR, advertising and marketing jobs are offering an average salary of $58,420 and creative design jobs are paying employees at $50,453.
-Those looking for the highest paying roles should target Calgary and Toronto where advertised openings are offering $82,718, whereas grads in Halifax and Winnipeg can expect to find a job that pays $52,404.
