Increasing Organizational Performance

The Gallup company has done extensive research on corporate performance in relationship to a company’s employee base.

Gallup believes that they can quantify for a company how certain initiatives will affect their corporate bottom line.

Here are some examples of their findings.

When you pick the right manager, a company can achieve 27% higher revenue per employee reporting in to that manager.

When you select the right individual for a role, you can achieve an additional 6% revenue increase.

An engaged employee will add a further 18% in revenue.

Gallup's Chief Scientist recommends that companies use 4 different strategies for maximizing employee performance which will also increase corporate revenue.

Strategy 1

Select managers with natural talent. Only 10% have the natural talent to be great managers. Another 20% are good with development but too many employees are promoted based on their past performance and this performance is often related to a sole contributor success.

Strategy 2

Select the right individual contributors. It is important to develop talent profiles for the positions.

This is viewed as critical as too often, selection is based on superficial criteria such as the education of the individual.

Strategy 3

Engage employees. As stated, an engaged employee can increase revenues 18% so make sure you develop metrics that track the KPI’s in this area.

Strategy 4

Study the talents of the employees and focus on their strengths and not their weaknesses. This will bring in an additional 8% of productivity for a company.
