Really? You are posting that position on line?
The Best Candidates Are Not Applying to Job Postings
Lou Adler, author and creator of Performance-based Hiring recently did a survey of over 1,500 fully-employed LinkedIn members located in the U.S. and Canada. These findings do not surprise me as a head hunter but they should be a wake-up call for companies. Keep in mind, this is a survey of LinkedIn members which is the most executive networking social media site. This is NOT data collected from sites for active candidates that are no longer relevant in today’s business world such as Workopolis or Monster.
Here are the key findings:
1.
"Only 23% of the fully-employed professional workforce is actively looking for another job.
2.
The semi-active candidates – representing 13% of the workforce – are silently seeking other positions through a close network of associates.
3.
The biggest segment of the talent market – the semi-passives at 43% – are not looking for another job. However, they would entertain a call from a recruiter if the job represented a significant career move.
4.
The super passives, at 21% of the talent market, don’t want to even consider changing jobs. However, if you can somehow connect with them and describe an extraordinary career move, then they might be willing to discuss it."
How effective do you think that job posting is at in targeting top talent for that key position which is open in your organization.
Headhunting passive candidates is the only viable solution for filling key positions in an organization.
Companies need to analyze whether those internal recruiters that they have hired are actually headhunting or just managing a posting process.
